The End of My Coming of Age Book

Speak was a spectacular book. I can somewhat relate to Melinda because she doesn't like people knowing how she feels. Sometimes being an outcast is a good thing, but most of the time it won't help you at all. Being an outcast can be good when you are being peer pressured to do something, that you know isn't the right thing to do. The entire book layout is really interesting. It's interesting because through out the book you slowly learn why Melinda is the way she is. You learn everything while Melinda is going the difficulties of being a freshman in high school. People in Melinda's life use her, manipulate her, and even betray her, no wonder Melinda can't trust anyone in her life. Then Melinda's home life isn't that great either. Her family isn't as close since the whole experience Melinda had. Her parents usually have no idea at all what is going on in Melinda's life. Melinda was raped. She lets nobody know untill her ex - bestfriend is at risk, because the boy that raped her is now dating her ex - bestfriend. After she does that she begins to change. She starts being more open with friends and family. Then suddenly the boy that raped her, attacks her in a closet, Melinda takes charge and doesn't let him do anything. After everyone knows what the boy did, Melinda becomes a new legend. This book really did inspire me in more ways than one. Melinda sordino is the girl that learned to speak.

My Coming of Age Book

My coming of age book is Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book is just, so amazing so far. Melinda, the protagonist in this story is unlike any other character I have read before. The whole book is unraveling this somewhat mystery of what happened at a party over the summer. It's her first year in high school and everyone hates her for something she did at that party. Melinda only has one friend, and it is a girl tat just moved to Melinda's town and has no idea why everyone else hates her. Melinda is very quite, and I can see why this book is called speak, because all Melinda has to do is speak so people can actually understand her. She usually keeps to herself, her head is like an entire commentary on life. It's kinda sad how Melinda lives, she goes to school then goes home, without ever telling anyone how she actually feels. Melinda is breaking inside and nobody even knows it. Hopefully by the end of the book, just at least one person knows how Melinda actually feels.

Test Prep #2 Questions on plagiarizing

* What did the student do wrong? What could he/she have done to include the source correctly?
The student wrote down what he read word for word, which is plagiarizing. The student could have read the entire article, then try to put it in his own words and jus cite his source in the writing that he wrote.

*Write a sentence using the original source correctly; use a quotation or paraphrase. Also, make sure to cite the source correctly....Starry Night is a very popular painting by Van Gough, because of the thought and meaning he put in to the painting. In an article titled "A Brief Understanding of the Starry Night Paintings"(Author unknown),It states:"There is the night sky filled with swirling clouds, stars ablaze with their own luminescence, and a bright crescent moon." This quote shows the detail in Van Gough's painting.

* What are at least 3 ways to avoid plagiarizing?
-You can write what you think and then just cite your source
-You can make a table or web with some of your ideas and then add it to your writing
-Paraphrase the writing

Test Prep #1

I really admire Guadalupe's blog entry on the book series. I admire it because she really put her opinion in it. She really let the reader understand what she thought about all of the books. I also liked Gabriela P.'s entry on the play Much Ado about Nothing.First off her title of the entry is very unique,it seems she put alot of effort in it. I really like how she gave many examples on the play was good to her, also how she wrote how the lighting made her
feelings change during the play. Those are the two blogpost that I admired the most.

I do think I really need to improve my blog and posts. I need to put more thought in the creativity of my titles as Gaby did in her entry. I also need to show the reader how I really feel on whatever I'm writing about as Guadalupe did in her entry. My blog post need to be larger when in comes to the amount of writing in it. I will now try harder to improve on my blog posts.

True Friends

Friction by E.R Frank is the kind of book that shows you who your true friends really are. This book is based on the idea that you always have to be carefully who you befriend. Alex the girl narrating this book has a mixture of ideas in her mind. Stacy who is the new girl in school, comes in and ruins the whole flow of things. Alex is kinda forced into taking Stacy under her wing, but Alex doesn't seem be upset anymore when she sees what Stacy looks like,"She's got shiny black hair down to her behind and grey eyes that take up her whole face"(2).
To Alex, Stacy is the kind of girl you want to be around. She has a tongue piercing that flashes every time she talks, shes not the kind of girl that goes to Alex's school. When Stacy gets there she immediately makes herself be known. She starts saying things that are complete lies. For instance she thinks Tom and Alex are dating, but they have been bestfriends since they were in diapers, they are more like brother and sister. Then Stacy tells Alex that she thinks that she has the hots for their teacher simon.
Alex gets so confused about Stacy and doesn't know what to do. Then Stacy comes out of nowhere and tells Alex that her father is dead, she tells her not to tell ANYONE. Then that gets her more confused because she never keeps secrets from Tom. I think Stacy is lying about her father for some reason, I think she just wants a sob story for Alex to feel bad for her.
This book is getting quite interesting I just can't wait to see what happens next, am I right about Stacy or is she really a genuine person inside?

I Actually Finished It!!!

I just finished The Girl Next Door by.Selene Castrovilla.
This book is one of the best romance books I have ever read. Selene Castrovilla puts so much emotion and character into this book. Sam the leading lady is just such a inspiring character.
She loves Jess so much, she can not imagine life without him. You would think Selene Castrovilla would let all her characters end up having a happy ending, but that's not the entire case. Sam starts to accept that Jess will leave her. This girl is in so much pain, it is really unimaginable unless you have been through it. Sam is a strong girl, her father left her by death and now the love of her life is leaving her. This is really an inpiriring book, it taught me to not take anything for granted in life, especially the people. I wold recommend this book to really anyone who wants to be touched in a way you could never imagine. :) <3

2 Good Blog Posts!!:)

The two good blog posts i read were from Guadalupe and Dania. I love how Guadalupe really thought about her title, she chose one that would bring a reader into her blog. I like how Dania really connected to her book and really explained it.
